Hi,
I have an ID5 GTX with a sunroof based in Belgium. After trading in my Audi allroad which had roof railings and getting my ID5 I realised the potential problem for the ID5 roof box. I did some research and saw some concerning comments about 0 load roof and decided to check with the dealer. The Belgian VW dealer wher I ordered my ID checked and suggested to buy “SEA SUCKERS” monkey bars which the dealer offered to install with my roof box. https://www.seasucker.com/products/monk ... I ordered the sea suckers monkey bars and the dealer installed the roofbox. We drove 1000 km with the box from Belgium to Austria on the different highways without any problems. Naturally driving with the box shot completely the economics and we only got about 330-340 km at speed avg 120 km/hr before recharging. However there was no problems with the roof box attachment which is based on suction cups.
The only problem was the location of the box which the dealer placed ( slightly too far back) which caused more drag on he way to Austria. I changed the location of the box( moving it more forward to reduced drag) in Austria and this improved the range by about 30 -50 km to 380 km. My son found out that someone did tests with sea suckers and tested them successfully at speed reaching 250 km/hr.[/img][/img][/img]
